- Short bio of presenting author is requested at time of abstract submission. Bio should be in English, without bullet points, from 500 to 1,500 characters max and cover current level of employment, current institution(s), main activities, highlights of training background, research interest (particularly with regard to albinism) and main research accomplishments (if any).
Presentation Types
The ISCA 2025 program will feature four Main Scientific Sessions as well as a Poster Exhibition. All sessions for the ISCA 2025 will be virtual.
All presentations for the Main Sessions, as well as Poster presentations, will be selected through this call for abstracts
Upon submission of your abstract, you will be asked for your preference between an oral or a poster presentation. This preference will be taken into consideration by the Scientific Advisory Committee when reviewing the abstracts and building the program.
Topics
ISCA is THE meeting point worldwide for all scientists interested in sharing and improving knowledge of the biomedical aspects of albinism and, more generally, improving the health of those with albinism. We, therefore, welcome all abstracts covering topics related to health in albinism. This includes, but is not limited to, the following topics:
- Genetics & Genotype-Phenotype Correlations
- Cellular mechanisms of albinism genes
- Visual Pathophysiology
- Study Models of Albinism
- Visual Function and Rehabilitation
- Diagnosis, Clinical Studies, Patient Education and Therapies
- Dermatology, Photoprotection and Skin Cancer Management
- Psychosocial impacts of albinism
- Health related impacts of Climate Change
Of note: ISCA aims to address all clinical forms of albinism, including oculocutaneous albinism, ocular albinism, and syndromic forms. Therefore, we also encourage the submission of abstracts related to hematology, pulmonology, immunology, and gastroenterology, in the context Hermansky-Pudlak Syndrome and Chediak-Higashi Syndrome are also encouraged.”
Timeline
- Submission Opening Date: October 10th, 2024
- Submission Deadline: November 21st, 2024.
- Author Notification: December 16th-20th, 2024.
Authors will be requested to share their slide decks (for oral presentations) or posters (in their electronic format) with the ISCA 2024 organizing team by January 7th, 2025
Review process
Abstract proposals will be evaluated by the ISCA 2025 Scientific Advisory Committee and the final selection of presenters will be made in collaboration with the ISCA 2025 Organizing Team.
The speakers will be notified as per the above timetable. The notification will include:
- Format of presentation (oral or poster)
- Allocated duration (for oral presentations only)
